Dedication:
Seperate car accidents caused the deaths of two young distance runners–Seth Burton and Katie DeRosa–that had trained at the Gold Medal Camp in 1998 at California Univeristy of PA. Burton, 17, captain of the West Fairmont High (WV) Cross Country team died 10/14/1998. DeRossa, 13, about to start her first cross country season at Beall High, MD, died 8/15/1998. Burton captained his Polar Bears to the 1997 WV state cross country championships. DeRosa–in her last race–won the 15-U division of the Greater Clarksburg, WV Distance Classic.
